Dan Wilcox

dan wilcox

Poet Dan Wilcox is the Chair of the Hudson Valley Writers Guild Program Committee. He is an active member of Veterans for Peace and is the host of the Third Thursday Poetry Night at the Social Justice Center in Albany NY, member of the traveling poetry performance group, 3 Guys from Albany, and the poetry scene's unofficial photographer who has photographed and compiled "the world's largest collection of photos of unknown poets." Daniel Nester, professor of English at The College of Saint Rose, writes about Dan, that he is "one of those tireless literary boosters and performers who, in a perfect world, would get six-figure grants for being such an arts entrepreneur. As it stands, he's one of those people who builds the fields, gets phone calls from poets for gigs, hosts them, and lets people do their thing. At any reading in the greater Capital District, you're bound to see Wilcox, flash camera in hand, handing out his quarter-page flyers for his events." Dan is also known for his widely-read and highly-rated blog, DWX, in which he writes about the Albany poetry scene and provides reviews and photographs of area readings.
